Avionics vibration isolator mount
Common Usage
These are found in a wide variety of aircraft, ranging from vintage general aviation planes (like Cessnas or Pipers) to military aircraft and early commercial jets. If you look closely at the side of the silver cups, you might find a part number starting with something like 6000 or 7000 series (e.g., 6300, 7820), which would tell you the specific weight load it was designed to carry.
Why is it built like this?
In an aircraft, vibration is the enemy of electronics. Without these mounts, the delicate solder joints and vacuum tubes (in older gear) or processors (in newer gear) would literally shake themselves apart over time.
